PEPS Ventures

For a buyer or tenant who has been sent a payment link

PaymentXchange

PaymentXchange is a real payment platform used by estate agencies in Malaysia to collect deposits. That does not tell you whether the particular link you were sent is genuine, so this page sets out where your money goes, who holds it, and the checks you can make yourself before you pay.

Where the money goes

Every step your money takes, in order. There are no others.

01

You pay from your own bank

The payment is made through FPX, from your own online banking, on your own bank’s screen.

FPX
02

The payment is received by CHIP IN Sdn Bhd

CHIP IN Sdn Bhd is the payment provider. It is a merchant acquirer registered with Bank Negara Malaysia, and you can find it under that name in the Bank Negara Malaysia directory of financial service providers.

03

It is paid on to your estate agency

Not to an individual. The money goes to the bank account your estate agency registered with the platform, and an agent cannot change that account at the point you pay.

Where it lands
04

Your agency holds your deposit

From that point your agency holds the deposit, as it would if you had transferred to them directly. Your deposit is their responsibility, under the agreement you have with them.

Who holds it

What PaymentXchange is, and is not

PaymentXchange provides the technology that raises the payment request and records it. It is not a bank and not an escrow agent. It does not hold the funds, and it does not store your bank or card details.

If the transaction does not complete

The return of the deposit is arranged with your agency, under the agreement you have with them. The platform keeps the receipt and the record of what you paid.

Before you pay

Four checks you can make yourself, without contacting anyone here.

Ring your agency on a number you found yourself
Take the number from their office, their signage or a directory, not from the message that carried the link. Ask them to confirm they raised this request. This one check is worth more than the other three together.
Check the agency name on the payment page
It should be the agency you have been speaking to, spelled the same way.
Check the amount against what you agreed
Compare the total you are asked to authorise with the amount you agreed. Ask your agency about any difference before you authorise it.
Treat a second request as a new request
Your bank sets its own limit on an online transfer, so a large deposit may not go through in one payment. That is normal. If you are asked to pay again, run these checks again before you do.

Who is responsible for it

PaymentXchange is a product of Infomina Geolytik Sdn Bhd, Company No. 202501022684 (1624097-M), endorsed by PEPS Ventures Berhad.

Infomina Geolytik Sdn Bhd operates the platform and holds the agreement with your estate agency. PEPS Ventures Berhad is the wholly-owned company of the Association of Valuers, Property Managers, Estate Agents and Property Consultants in the Private Sector, Malaysia (PEPS).

What the endorsement covers

PEPS Ventures Berhad endorses the product. It does not operate the platform, does not receive or hold deposit payments, and has no visibility of individual transactions.

What the payment page will ask you for

So you know what a genuine request looks like before you open one.

Identity and consent
You are asked to verify your identity and to give consent before the payment is raised.
A TAC from your bank
You authorise the payment on your own bank’s screen, with the TAC your bank sends you. The platform does not store your bank or card details.
A receipt
A digital receipt is issued when the payment is made, and the record of what you paid stays with it.
See a whole receipt The document itself, end to end, so you can compare it with your own.
A PaymentXchange payment receipt. It confirms a full earnest deposit of RM 20,000 paid by FPX online banking, and sets out the receipt and request references, the date and time, the estate agency with its firm registration number and the account the deposit was paid to, the property and the purpose, the buyer with contact details shortened by the platform, and a payment summary. Buttons at the foot download the receipt as a PDF or return to the dashboard.
A receipt from a test transaction, shown whole. The one change is the agency's bank account number, covered because this page is public. Open it full size, which is the only way to read it on a phone.

If something still looks wrong

Start with your agency. They raised the request and they are the only party who can tell you whether this particular one is theirs.

01

Your estate agency

On a number you obtained yourself. Ask them to confirm the request, the amount and the deposit it relates to.
