Speaker - Sr James Tan Keen Meng

Associate Director at Raine & Horne International Zaki + Partners Sdn. Bhd.

Sr James Tan Keen Meng obtained a degree in Property Resource Management (Valuation) from the South Australian Institute of Technology (now known as the University of South Australia) in 1987.

He worked in Adelaide for two years with the Taplin Group of Companies as a valuer and property analyst before returning to Kuala Lumpur to work with Jones Lang Wotton for four years as a graduate valuer. In addition, James worked in three other valuation firms for seven years before joining the Petaling Jaya office as an Associate Director in 2000.

He received his registration as a Valuer in 1995 and completed his Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance (CDipAF) from ACCA in 1998. James was admitted as a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in January 2007. He is also a member of the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) and the Association of Valuers, Property Managers, Estate Agents and Property Consultants in the Private Sector Malaysia (PEPS).

With a passion for imparting knowledge, he lectured in Valuation and Land Economics at G Institute of Real Estate from 2000 for 12 years before joining Good Institute as a part-time lecturer.

He has conducted training and delivered talks to numerous financial institutions and corporations since the 1990s, and has been interviewed by many property magazines and news portals. In addition, he has spoken on many current issues affecting the property market such as GST, hill-slope developments, and the latest government guidelines.

He has been involved in numerous corporate valuation exercises for submission to the Securities Commission for organisations such as YTL, Boilermech Group, Benalec, Amtel Berhad, Nextnation Berhad, Bright Packaging Berhad and Dijaya Corporation Berhad, among others.

Besides the above, he is also involved in the valuation of all types of properties, including plant and machinery such as vessels and steel plants.

He has also conducted numerous market feasibility consultancy studies for various types of properties across Malaysia, China and India, with the objective of generating the highest possible profit through the right development mix within legal and financial parameters.
