Handle Rental Deals with Confidence: From Deposits to Vacant Possession is a practical three-hour training programme designed to equip property agents and real estate negotiators with essential legal knowledge for handling tenancy and rental transactions confidently and professionally.
The course takes participants through the complete lifecycle of a tenancy transaction, beginning with the initial offer and collection of deposits, followed by the execution of the tenancy agreement, management of issues arising during the tenancy, termination or expiry of the tenancy, and ultimately the delivery of vacant possession.
Participants will gain practical understanding of key tenancy terms and clauses, including rental and deposits, maintenance and repairs, permitted use, renovation, subletting, renewal, termination, default, reinstatement and the refund or forfeiture of deposits. The course will also address common situations encountered by property agents, such as withdrawal before execution of the tenancy agreement, rental arrears, early termination, property damage, disputes over repairs, unauthorised occupation and tenants who refuse to vacate.
Through practical examples and case scenarios, participants will learn how to identify legal red flags, manage clients' expectations, maintain proper documentation and recognise situations that should be referred to a lawyer.
The course is intended to bridge the gap between closing a rental deal and understanding the legal consequences that follow, enabling property professionals to better protect their clients while reducing the risk of disputes arising from the transaction.
